Meet the Team – Video Producer, Nadia van den Heever
About me
I am a freelance video editor and social media manager and for the past 13 years I’ve worked mainly on corporate productions, and had the privilege of editing TV programs for kykNET. For the last 3 years I have also been a freelance production manager, working predominantly in the film industry in Namibia. I am married and live in Swakopmund, Namibia.
What do you do?
I am a Video Producer and Social Media Manager for CF Communications.
What did you study?
I studied Jazz at Pretoria Technikon.
What was your first job?
I started in the entertainment field as a solo singer, while working at a small recording studio as a backing vocalist and PA.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
I always dreamed of being a famous singer, but with my diverse interests, I had to choose between studying civil engineering and music. Music won!
What has been your career highlight?
There are a few that stand out in my different genres I pursued: I recorded my own CD and was able to perform at numerous festivals! I co-wrote an Afrikaans movie script and the script was bought by kykNET. I received an award at the 48 Hour Film Project for Best Music Score.
Where is home?
I live in Swakopmund, Namibia, a small tourist town at the coast.
How do you spend your weekends?
I am really lazy over the weekends, and will spent it reading if possible.
What’s your favourite movie?
I have too many favourites to name just one! But my favourite genre is (obviously!) musicals!
If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Anything with potatoes!
Which destination is on your bucket list to visit?
Greece. Greek food is my absolute favourite and one day I want to enjoy the authentic dishes at a street café.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Mm, I might have a few, but definitely lazing around in my PJ’s just watching TV series and eating everything I can find.
What piece of advice can you give aspiring business owners?
Work, work, work. The best way to learn more about your job and yourself is to work, and to make sure that you learn from each process. Don’t be afraid to ask someone for help, you can’t be perfect in everything, but you can have the perfect team.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part is to see the end result of a project, and obviously the satisfaction to hear that a client is pleased with the results.
